Introducing the Son House Club Online

Son House Club
Anniversary Night
December 4, 2008

Mark your calendars and be sure to be here as we celebrate a whole year of celebrating! We’ve got the Genesee Jug Sliders and a lot more coming your way.

Welcome to the Son House Club! This site is an extension of the club centered around Son House Night, a weekly acoustic blues gathering hosted by Gordon Munding. Every Thursday evening, Rochester’s Beale Street Café lights up with music from area musicians who share a love and respect for this classic and personal style of music.

What’s the site about? Whatever we want it to be, as long as it points in the direction of furthering our appreciation for the blues. As its moderator, I’d like it to be a community resource for whatever its members want it to be, and whatever they make it with their contributions. I’d love to hear your ideas, and I’ll get the ball rolling with a few possibilities:

  • Stories about Son House and other well-known blues performers
  • Resources, thoughts and tips about the instruments we play: styles, tips, ideas
  • Info about upcoming gigs, whether they’re yours or big-name regional acts. Maybe we can arrange to buy groups of tickets to big shows, arrange carpools, things like that.
  • Lyrics of blues songs with the name “Heidi” worked into them somehow.

This site is under development, and you’ll soon be able to join on-line and do wonderful things. But if you’ve got an idea before then that you’ve got to share, feel free to contact me.

Thanks!
